Essential Education Programmes Print E-mail

These programmes include projects created directly by Essential Education, and those recognised by Essential Education as sharing the same aims, methodologies and emphasis on developing compassion and wisdom.

Essential Education programmes typically run training courses and workshops in addition to creating and distributing resources. You can see the past courses and workshops of these programmes.

The 16 Guidelines

The 16 Guidelines are a direct and practical tool for anyone who wants to lead a happier, more meaningful life. They're a simple but profound and inspirational framework that you can use to live in a way that benefits yourself and others.

Visit the 16 Guidelines website to discover the range of 16 Guidelines resources, learn about our training workshops, diarise upcoming 16 Guidelines workshops and read about the 16 Guidelines in action.

Popular 16 Guidelines resources include The Basics (the 'user manual') and Ready Set Happy (a 16 Guidelines resource for children).

The Potential Project

Increasing workloads, tighter deadlines and high stress levels are the major challenges of today's working life. Without effective tools to deal with these pressures, we often experience emotional, mental and physiological imbalance at work as well as at home.

The Potential Project is the application of Essential Education in the workplace. Based on the premise that managing our mind means managing our life, it offers two thoroughly tested and proven programs on mind training for employees and managers in corporations. These programs are offered in packages from workshops of just three hours to retreat seminars of two to five days each.

Creating Compassionate Cultures

Since 1989, Pam Cayton and staff at Creating Compassionate Cultures Tara Redwood School, California, have created, implemented and researched strategies for awakening compassion, wisdom and social responsibility in the minds and hearts of children.

Creating Compassionate Cultures is a children's education programme run by Pam Cayton, providing training and materials that empower children, youth and families to make a positive difference in the world. Pam is based at the Tara Redwood School in California.

Transformative Mindfulness

Transformative Mindfulness is a series of self-help, receptive visualizations that are being used in health care, medical services, social services and education. They access the mind's potential to strengthen wellbeing and change the underlying causes of stress, pain, anxiety and reactions to uncomfortable situations or illness.

The methods of Transformative Mindfulness are gentle and easy for all ages and cultural traditions, and have been used for 20 years. They were developed by Dekyi-Lee Oldershaw, who lives in Canada. Facilitators are being trained internationally. For information and free exercises, visit Lamp On The Path.

Loving Kindness Peaceful Youth

Essential Education is delighted to work in partnership with Loving Kindness Peaceful Youth (LKPY), an international youth-led peace organisation for young people that was launched in Australia in June 2007.

LKPY believes that peace starts with individuals developing the basis of their own inner peace: kindness, patience, tolerance and generosity. LKPY aims to create the space for young people to form connections, exchange ideas and share passions, and to be inspired to make positive changes for ourselves, our communities and the world as a whole.

You can watch the LKPY promotional video on YouTube.
